| In a statement on May 19, 2004 Bristol-Myers Squibb announced that it would pull Serzone from the U.S. market – allegedly due to poor sales. This follows removal of Serzone from the European market in January 2003. |
Please Note: The pharmaceutical liability attorneys at the James Esparaza law firm have represented countless clients in the Utah area who have been harmed by dangerous drugs, and we can help you, too. However, at this time, we are only accepting pharmaceutical liability cases for the following drugs: Levaquin, Yaz and Yasmin, and Transvaginal Mesh Patches. The link here indicates the drug cases we are no longer accepting so that we may focus our time and resources on victims who have been harmed by Levaquin, Yaz/Yasmin and the Transvaginal patches.
Currently in active litigation against Bristol Myers Squibb (the manufacturers of the antidepressant Serzone) the James Esparza law firm is the right attorney to call if you or a loved one has suffered because of taking Serzone.
A “black box” warning label for Serzone has now been required by the Food and Drug Administration warning of the possibility of liver damage and life-threatening liver failure for users of Serzone (nefazodone hydrochloride). A "black box" warning is the most serious warning the FDA issues, and is required for only the most dangerous drug side effects.
Twenty-six deaths from liver damage have been linked to Serzone, which resulted in European countries removing the drug from the market entirely. Symptoms of liver damage and/or liver failure include: jaundice (yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes), darker than normal urine, loss of appetite, nausea, and abdominal pain. If you or a family member is taking Serzone and you notice any of these symptoms, report them to your doctor immediately. In addition, you may want to talk to a lawyer about your legal rights.
