Prempro Side Effects
The
clinical study results (done by NHLBI on 16,000 women) indicated
increased rates of their:
- Heart attack,
- Breast cancer,
- Cardiovascular disease,
- Stroke and
- Blood clots.
These results were so alarming, that the
study was halted prematurely and the participants were instructed
to stop using Prempro. (This same combination of hormones
is used not only in Prempro, but also in other Hormone Replacement
Therapies and in most oral contraceptives.)
Of further concern is that, in May of this year, the Wall
Street Journal (5/28/03) reported that a new study revealed
that "Prempro doubled the risk of dementia in women
over 65."
