Please Note: The pharmaceutical liability attorneys at the James Esparaza law firm have represented countless clients in the Utah area who have been harmed by dangerous drugs, and we can help you, too. However, at this time, we are only accepting pharmaceutical liability cases for the following drugs: Levaquin, Yaz and Yasmin, and Transvaginal Mesh Patches. The link here indicates the drug cases we are no longer accepting so that we may focus our time and resources on victims who have been harmed by Levaquin, Yaz/Yasmin and the Transvaginal patches.
Celebrex (celecoxib), manufactured by Pfizer, has become
the latest arthritis pain reliever to be spotlighted for serious
side effects. In a statement on ABC's This Week (12/19/04), Pfizer
Chief Executive Hank McKinnell stated "We're leaving Celebrex on the
market because it is an appropriate option for many, many patients.
Physicians do need to be fully advised of the risks, and particularly
this new information."
This statement came just 2 days after Pfizer acknowledged that Celebrex more than doubled the risk of heart attack. Hearing this, the FDA urged physicians to find alternatives to Celebrex for their patients suffering from osteoarthritis joint pain.
In addition to relieving acute pain for conditions such as osteoarthritis, Celebrex has been used for relief of acute primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cramping). However, studies have shown that serious side effects can result. These side effects include:
- Increased risk of blood clots
- Increased risk of heart attacks
- Increased risk of strokes
- Gastrointestinal hemorrhaging
- Death
If you or a family member have taken Celebrex and suffered any of these side effects, please email our personal injury lawyers or call an attorney immediately.
