Bad Faith Insurance
The
insurance system is based on trust. We pay money for an
insurance policy in good faith, trusting that if we need
the benefits we are paying for, they will be there.
When an insurance company refuses to honor a legitimate
claim, unfairly delays in paying a claim, or pays only part
of a covered claim, the insurance company might be operating
in bad faith and may be liable for damages.
Other bad faith insurance practices include overcharging for premiums, improper fees, and misleading practices regarding the collection of premiums.
If you filed a claim with your insurance company — whether life, health, disability, mortgage, auto or any other type of insurance — and your insurance company engaged in unfair practices, refused your claim, delayed in paying you, and/or underpaid what you were entitled to under the terms of the policy, we can help.
Certain companies have been shown to have a corporate policy of denying claims – even completely legitimate claims -- in order to increase their own profits. Companies who take unfair advantage of innocent policyholders should be prosecuted and made to pay. If the kind of insurance you have is Unum Provident Corporation or any of their subsidiaries, please click here for our special Unum page.
