Accutane, also known as Isotretinoin, should not be taken by females of childbearing age who have any chance of becoming pregnant, nor by pregnant women under any circumstances, as the drug is known to cause birth defects. There is an extremely high risk of fetal problems if a woman is or becomes pregnant while taking Accutane, even if the drug is only taken for a short time.
